Dell Android base device?

Dell is developing a handle device that running Google Android OS. However, it is not a mobile phone, in fact it is a device that specially for Internet access. Dell will begin selling the Internet access device later this year, though the plan could be scrapped, according the new from the Wall Street Journal.

The whole thing now seems is a rumor, because Dell declined to comment about the device, saying it didn’t comment on rumors and speculation.

The device name is unknown. It is just a mobile Internet devices (MIDs), which combine the attributes of smartphones and netbooks in a pocket-sized machine. A bit like net-book but much smaller and less features than that.

Dell’s last well-known pocket-sized device was the Axim PDA, which was scrapped in 2007 on account of poor sales. Dell’s major competitors, including Hewlett-Packard, Acer and Apple, are already present in mobile computing with smartphones and PDAs.
