htc-advantage-x7510-specification-2 HTC Advantage X7510 Overview-a Laptop-like Handset

The HTC Advantage X7510 is an all-in-one handset. As you see the appearance of the handset (when the keyboard is attached), it totally looks like a small notebook. But in fact, it is hardly considered as a UMPC as it is not running full version of Windows. However, the X7510 can be the PDA, mobile phone, media player, and camera in a single device. So let’s see what the HTC Advantage X7510 got.

Design
The HTC Advantage X7510 measures 3.86 x 5.26 x 0.63 inches (W x H x D) and weighs approximately 13.23 ounces which is totally to won’t make you feel comfortable when put it in your jeans pocket. It is also why it can’t be categorized in smartphone. The X7510 features a 5-inch TFT touch-sensitive LCD screen with a VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution and supports up to 256 thousand colors. Although, the touchsreen can manage to control the phone, but there is a detachable magnetic QWERTY keyboard come along with the phone. The keyboard is extremely thin (3mm), and can be attaches to the machine via a magnet. It is reliable with the magnetic engagement? Well, the magnet is very strong and HTC Advantage will not topple off the keyboard when bumped.

Memory
The HTC Advantage X7510 comes with an internal flash memory of 16 gigabytes and ROM of 256 megabytes. It also has a miniSD expansion slot. So it seems memory is not the problem.

Camera
The PDA features two cameras. The main camera has 3.1-megapixel sensors and it features flash and autofocus. The second camera captures images in VGA (640 x 480 pixels) resolution. Speaking of the photography, the camera can take photos up to 2048 x 1536 resolution and has up to 8x digital zoom (not available at the highest resolution). The camera also provides options for center vs. average metering, 4 quality settings, white balance, image effects, burst and timer modes. It saves files in MP4 format that Quicktime under Windows but not Mac OSX could play.

So what is the quality of the camera? Well, the camera is just a typical average image quality. Not so brilliant, but can capture pretty find image.

Multimedia
As HTC Advantage X7510 running Windows Mobile OS, Windows Media Player Mobile is included, and it handles MP3, WMA and AAC files. If you don’t like WM Player you can still install third party players in it. Likewise, the Windows Media player also handles the video playback function. It is supports WMV, ASF and some MPEG4 format videos. Also, you are able to use third party player to replace it. If you want to watch 3GP and MPEG-4 video streamed from web sites, HTC has provide a Streaming Media player for you.

Beside pf that, the HTC Advantage X7510 also provides TV, monitor or projector output via VGA out and USB host 1.1. This is pretty handy for the traveling businessmen, as you can easily PowerPoint presentations from your handset to a projector.

Others
The other features of HTC Advantage X7510 include Internal GPS antenna, WiFi, Office Mobile with Word, Excel and Powerpoint, and many more. These features are practical in use such as the GPS enables you to quickly get a fix on satellite positions are start navigating but have to combine with software like Google Maps or TeleNav. We are not surprised by the WiFi because now it is getting more common in use for most of the phone today. And the Office Mobile can let you mange your document and email easily. This entire make HTC Advantage X7510 become a strong multi purpose device.

Conclusion
HTC Advantage X7510 is smart and attractive. I love the big screen and brilliant VGA display, and like the features in the handset. But I don’t like the size of the phone, and the cost of the phone is too high for me. Obviously the HTC Advantage X7510 is more suits to the frequent traveling businessmen. And I am not a businessman, so I won’t pick it.
