The Motorola latest music phone–EM30 was released recently. The Motorola EM30 or know as Motorola ROKR EM30 is a phone that specially design for music lovers. Let take a look what lies beneath the phone.

Design
The Motorola EM30 looks very similar to Motorola E8 at first sight. Indeed, the EM30 are the upgrade version of E8. EM30 is a candy-bar style phone that clad in a stylish black and red color scheme which makes it feel Rock. Most probably youngster will like this kind of design. The EM30 is quite slim handset which is 10.6mm in depth & 53mm wide by 115mm tall. The screen is a 1.8 Inch TFT QVGA screen which has a screen resolution of 320 pixels by 240 pixels. Below the screen is chrome colored navigation key complete with call and shortcut keys. And the flat-key design of the numeric keypad that placed under the navigation key will look like hide when the phone is not activated. So you will not see anything at numeric keypad when it is in passive mode and all you can see is the navigation wheel and shortcut keys at the center of the phone.

The unique of the keypad is its ModeShift™ feature. Like the keypad of Motorola E8, the ModeShift™ keypad displays a selection of music keys when the phones is in music mode to make managing music easier. And when the keys are blue it means you are in phone mode. But unfortunately, unlike E8, the camera mode is absent.

Music
Since the Motorola EM30 is labeled as a music phone that complete with high-fidelity audio, it is sure the quality of the audio is decent. The phone also comes with 3.5mm stereo headset jack which is quite compatible with most of the headset. And the Windows Media Player 11 that pre-installed in the phone can provides the freedom to download music from more than 200 online music stores worldwide. But if you prefer listen to radio, the phone will not disappointed you with the FM radio with Radio Data System (RDS) technology that come along with the phone. Overall, EM30 is really playing an excellent role in provides music entertainment.

Camera
You really can’t expect more for the 2MP, 8X digital zoom, multi shot camera in the Motorola EM30. Although it cannot capture very high quality image but for normal shoot is no problem. Beside that, the camera also support video recording. Likewise, the camera isn’t powerful for that.

Memory
Well, storage capacity would be one of the important parts for a music phone. No matter how good is the phone’s music quality but if its only can store 10 songs, that will be a shame. For Motorola EM30, it has a MicroSD slot that support up to 8GB memory card. However, the internal memory is only 18.5 Mbytes. Obviously it is not enough to store much song. So you probably would consider buying a memory card for the phone.

Connectivity
The Motorola EM30 is not a 3G phone. To access to the internet, GPRS and EGDE is the only way for the phone connect to the internet. The phone also supports Bluetooth® technology and USB connection to transferring data between the Motorola EM30 and other devices. In term of network, the Motorola EM30 works on a quad band network which covers GSM 850, 900, 1800 & 1900. Thus, the phone is able to use in most of the country in the world.

Conclusion
In comparison with other music phone such as Sony Ericsson Walkman phone and Nokia Music Xpress phone, Motorola EM30 is not the best among those phones. The lack of 3G, GPS and other fancy features make the phone hardly categorized in high end phone. But the price is the pros of EM30. The price of EM30 can be considered cheap if compare with other music phone. Thus, if you are only looking for a stylish decent music phone, Motorola EM30 is a good choice.
