Nokia 5730 XpressMusic Review

Nokia recently has released three music phone which is all in music orientated that include XpressMuic 5730, 5630 and 5030 XpressRadio. Each handset has their own music features for different type of music lovers. Among these phones, Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is more targeting the texter market where the phone is come with a full Qwerty keypad for better texting experience. Aside of that, let see what other things inside this phone.

Design

The 5730 XpressMusic features the same sideways QWERTY slider form factor that Nokia used for the E75 business smartphone it launched lately. Beside of that, the face of Nokia 5730 XM presents a numeric keypad so user will no need slide out the Qwerty keypad every time to make a call or few basic control. The display is a 2.4 inch QVGA screen that comes with an orientation sensor which allow the screen display in landscape mode when the Qwerty keypad is slide out. The dimension of 5730 XpreesMusic measure 112 x 51 x 15.4 mm and weighting 135g. Frankly it is not the light weighted device, but you will not feel uncomfortable with the dimension because it make the phone more solid and rigid. Overall, the display actually is a bit small because the part of the front is using by the numeric keypad, but the ergonomic and button press feedback is still can be considered as good level because no difficulties of sliding and pressing button on the phone.

Software and Application

The Nokia 5730 XpressMusic runs on the Symbian 60 operating system edition of feature pack 2 which offer a new Home screen that presents contacts bar to give out rapid access to almost 20 contacts. Also, the home screen has shortcuts to provide quick entrée into popular applications like N gage, music, and others.  The phone also come with Ovi services that for user to share photos with friends, buy music and access third-party services includes Yahoo’s Flickr photo site, Facebook Facebook, MySpace, and YouTube. Since the phone have built-in GPS receiver, thus the handset is pre-loadeded with Nokia Maps application makes good use of the phones. For messaging, there are the Nokia Messaging and Mail for Exchange email clients ensure that the 5730 XpressMusic owner is never out of touch with friends and family.

Music

Nokia 5730 XpressMusic comes equipped with a pre-installed music player. It support wide variety of formats are supported, including MP3, AAC and WMA. what new in this music player are included a Nokia Say and Play which is use your voice toc select a track by saying the album, artist or track name. Other features of the player including a Podcasting application that allow you to download and playback your favourite podcasts, a link to the Nokia music store for download music from Nokia’s music store, and an internet radio application. Oh..yes…there is a FM radio too.

Camera

A 3.2 Megapixel camera, with autofocus, 8 times of digital zoom and uses a Carl Zeiss lens is included in 5730 Xpress Music. The quality of the image is just average.  We don’t why Nokia still stick to the 3.2MP resolution camera, it is a bit out of date since there are many smartphones is applying 8MP in their phone. At least Nokia should give this handset 5MP camera. Put aside the resolution, the device still presents a video recording mettle at 15fps and a video call camera. The recorded video can be play by the pre-loaded video player and it is also support streaming, and sharing doable. There is an image editor featured, so you can edit your taken pictures in the phone.

Final Words

Obviously, the selling point of Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is on it messaging and Music capabilities. Although it has a Qwerty keypad, but it still not a fully business orientated device. More accurately, it is more on texting-centric. So the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic is recommended for those who like to texting and also loves to listen music, not for businessmen.
