Nokia 6600i slide is the successor model Nokia 6600 slide last year, and of course with several improvements and upgrade. Apparently the 5MP camera is the most significant improvement of the phone. While smartphones are becoming the mainstream of the trend now, but a big proportion of users still rely on regular handsets. And the Nokia 660i slide is the phone that to get into this niche market.
Design
The Nokia 6600i Slide still share the exactly same sliding form factor and size with it predecessor with the measurement of 93 x 45 x 14 mm, and weight of 110g. However, the 6600i wa covered by more elegant chrome-plated steel. Upfront you will see the 2.2-inch QVGA display and a large directional pad with four buttons around it. Sliding down unveiled the alphanumeric keypad. They are neat and very easy to use and have a good tactile feedback, surely welcomed by all those texting addicts. Although the design of the 6600i have nothing much different with it predecessor but the brushed metallic finish gives the phone a very posh look.
Feature
The technical specifications on the 6600 are still retained in the 6600i. Apart of the upgraded 5MP camera, the another new feature that included in 6600i that added to the phone is the Adobe Flash Lite 3.o version that for playing flash compatible video and enables the delivery of dynamic Web content on mobile devices. It is already applying in other phone, and we are happy Nokia add this feature to this phone.
Like we said before, the 5MP camera is upgraded from 3.2 MP camera on 6600. The new camera also features an 8x zoom (do not expect it to be optical zoom), LED flash (2 LEDs) as well as autofocus. For video recording, the camera is possible capturing video at 15fps VGA resolution or 30fps QVGA resolution. We know that camera is not the Nokia’s strength, but we still impressed by the quality of the camera, though it is not the best one.
Other features are no different from Nokia 6600. The Nokia 6600i phone also has Nokia maps that work with the integrated GPS receiver, a music player that supports AAC, AAC+, MP3 and WMA files, a MPEG-4/3gp player, a Stereo FM radio with RDS and support 3G network. However, the increasing storage on the 6600i slide on expansion slot is now support up to 16GB microSD cards, which is a good news for multimedia lovers.
Final Words
There is no doubt that the Nokia 6600i Slide is a good features and attractive designed mid-range handset. However, consider the old Nokia 6600 was not had big shot on the selling, we afraid the new 6600i will also have the same fate. Despite the improvement of the phone, but it is still can’t stand out from crowd. It is not mean the phone is bad, but it just don’t have enough the charisma to attract people.

anybdy want to comment this fon…i want to buy this fon…but…
EEek stay away form this phone.
I recently purchased two of these phones. It is a tragic. A very well made phone with all the functions. Very pleasing to the eye. Unfortunately like many Nokia’s it falls short in one Dept. The dept you actually bought the phone for in the first place. IT FALLS VERY SHORT IN THE PHONE DEPT. Why?
Call quality is average to mediocre especially for a mid range phone.
I have $70 Panasonic and siemens antique phones with Crystal clear call quality that will beat the socks off the Nokia.
The speaker is on the back of the phone. So when it rings and your phone is on it’s back or on say a book you cannot hear a thing! You have to put the phone face down to hear calls. Nice for the display!
The speaker phone is also useless. How do you put the phone down? The mike is on the front, speaker on the back?
Call tones are far to low to be audible say driving in your car.
All in all it’s a glorified USB key. Not a phone.
Nokia needs to really wake up and realise not everyone wants a phone to take pics and play games. SOME OF US ACTUALLY WANT A PROPERLY FUNCTIONING PHONE.
Now for the best part. Emailed customer service bitching about the call quality. The reply was if I wanted crystal clear call quality I should have bought some other series which does have clear call quality…… …….. Last Nokia I ever buy.
Dear Greg,
Why do you bother leaving the same negative review for a phone on every single review website?
Let it rest.
It loses credibility.
