Nokia 6720 Classic Review

Nokia 6720 classic is the latest Classic range phone that released lately.  It is a high end and a user-friendly phones. The Nokia 6710 Navigator has very similar features to the Nokia 6710 Navigator. But of course, with more advance and improved features. The navigation is only a part of the phone it is more than just a navigation device. It actually have quite comprehensive features, make it hard to categories in either one specific category like music phone or texting phone.

Design

The Nokia 6720 Classic has a ‘classic’ condy bar design. Being of size 110 x 45 x 14 mm and weighting only 110 g,, the device is not the slimmest nor lightest phone on the market but it still comfortable to hold in hand. The 2.2 inches display is a QVGA TFT screen that supporting up to 16 million colors. The quality is not the best but acceptable. Below the display is the familiar Nokia nvigation and soft keys layout – a five way navigation pad surround by send/end, clear/cancel and Symbian menu keys. And at the bottom part is the lies the numeric keypad. They were well spaced and each key clearly defined make it quite easy to push the key. The design of 6720 Classic is actually not standing out but simple, and it is definitely youth is not the phone designed for.

OS

The 6720 Classic runs on Symbian S60 v3 FP2 which also mean there will have more intuitive UI , having a MultiTasking ability,  smarter Messaging application and etc. Another advantage of Symbian OS is it allows to install third party applications and trust me, this is needed since some of the pre-installed apps is not quite fit the need of many people. For example, there is built in media player, which can be accessed to play music and any downloaded podcasts but cannot play DivX/XviD video format, so you will need a third-party video player, such as the popular Core Player to deal with it.

Music

To listen the music, the 6720 Classic has prepared a music player that support  MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA music file formats. The player allows you to sort your track into with the selection of options which include Artists, Albums, All Song, Play-lists, Genres, Composers and even Podcasts. There is also offer music downloading service with the assistance of the Nokia Music Store and Nokia Music Manager features. There is a FM Radio with RDS technology is included for you to catch up the atest news, weather and travel information as well as listening to their favourite radio stations and DJ’s.

Camera

5MP camera is not always seen on Nokia’s phone, but surprisingly the 6720 Classic have been equipped with it. The camera is come with autofocus, LED flash and a Carl Zeiss lens, normally reserved for the more media focussed Nseries devices. Both pictures and video can be recorded by this camera. The picture can be captured up to the resolution of 2592×1944 pixels, and video also can be recorded in 15 fps. There are other features come with the camera to further enhancements to their cameras, such as face detection, image stabilisation, etc. Quality of the pictures and videos are pretty standard for a non media device, enough for most non photography lover users.

Navigation

Navigation is another big point of this handset. The 6720 classic has integrated GPS receiver and Ovi which you can get turn-by turn guidence to your destination. The Nokia Maps 3.0 software has been updated to include high-resolution aerial images and 3D landmarks for cities all over the world. There are also new features added in the software like traffic and safety warnings. travel content, and a weather service. Of course, you have to pay to fully enjoy the system.

Conclusion

By looking the layout of Nokia 6720 Classic, you will probably assume it is only a regular mid-range Nokia phones and not knowing it is actually a smartphone. It is a fantastic phone but still can’t be categories as a first class smartphone because still need some dedicated features like more advance texting experience, multimedia capabilities, and etc. However, if you are not a tech savvy, this handset surely can satisfied you.

Where do I buy it from? I will be taking it to Africa, Liberia to be specific.
