nokia-e66-specification-300x293 Nokia E66 Review

The Nokia E66 was released along with Nokia E71 last month. Apparently, these two phones were business oriented smartphones that in the Nokia E-series. If you read the spec for both Nokia E66 and Nokia E71, you will found that their spec is so alike. Indeed, Nokia E66 is identical to Nokia E71 but with different targeted customer group.

The Nokia E66 obviously is design for those who are don’t like QWERTY keypad but would like a phone equipped with Nokia E-series phones functionalities. And Nokia E66 was building on the successful of Nokia 65, which is also a smartphone without the QWERTY keypad. As you can see from the image above, the E66 is a slider phone with the ordinary numeric keypad. That would be the biggest different between E66 and E77.

Like E71, Nokia E66 is come with the features like 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and flash built-in, built-in GPS receiver, Symbian S60 9.2, Quad-band GSM, 3G with HSDPA, WiFi, stereo Bluetooth, 110 MB internal memory with support up to 8G micro SD card, Office applications, Ehanced email support, data encryption, mobile VPN and etc. I would not go details in this part. You can read my previous review of E71 for more details.

The Nokia E66 has a solid build phone and a little bit heavy (121g). But it is feels well and solid when hold it in hand. The 2.4″ QVGA (240 x 320 px) display is come with built-in accelerometer. That’s mean you can detect changes in the phone’s orientation and switch from portrait to landscape views (and vice versa) automatically. Also, the battery of E66 is 1000 mAh instead of 1500 mAh which is been use in E71. All these are the differences between E66 and E71. However, these differences don’t seem too obvious except the design of the phone as I mention before.

Overall, the Nokia E66 is a good all-in-one phone. However, like Doug Aamoth from crunchgear.com said the price of E66 might turn the phone down. The phone has been put at the high price-tag for about $500. I don’t think the price deserved for E66 since E71 has the lower price. I don’t see anything that E66 is better then E71.And I think it will probably turn most of the customer to E71.
