Nokia E75 is one of the latest business phone in the E-series line (another one is the Nokia E55). The Nokia E75 have the side-sliding form factor which is never being use before. This significant changes may attract most side-sliding Qwerty keypad user.

Design

Just like mention above, the E75 has a side-sliding form factor and yet still have a full numeric keypad at the front. It has a dimension of 14.4mm x 11.8mm x 50mm and weight of 139 g, this is just an average size but a bit heavy. The screen is the 2’6” TFT screen whit a resolution of 240 x 320 pixel. The display is actually a bit small for a side-sliding model. Below the display is the D-pad and has eight system keys around it which including Call,End,menu, backspace and etc. And at the bottom part lies the numeric keypad. Nokia want to fit all the key in the front, and this make the keys at the front are small. Not too good for pressing because you may often miss pressed. However the slide out Qwerty keypad is excellent. The keys are large and provide much better feedback make it easy to press. There are even had the dedicated key for comma and the @ symbol, very convinient for texting.

The design of the Nokia E75 is not so ’stylish’ actually. The front completely disguise the handset as an ordinary candy-bar phone. At first glance you will not knowing it has a side slide out keypad.

Multimedia

Nokia E75 has a music player which support most of the music format like MP3/MP4/eAAC+/WMA files. The playing features five equalizer presets, bass booster and stereo widening effect for better enjoyment of listening music. Although this is not a music orientated phone, but the quality pretty decent.

In term of watching movie on the phone, the Nokia E75 features Real player for playing it. You can watch it in portrait or fullscreen landscape mode. watching video on this handset is not a quite good experience because of it relative small size of display and can’t play  DivX and XviD files.

Messaging

With the help of Qwerty keypad, messaging on Nokia E75 is another pleasing experience. It implemented the usual S60 massaging application which support SMS, MMS, Email, IM and text-to-speech reader. Since there are two type of keypad on the E75, you can choice which either the numeric keypad or Qwerty keypad to key in your words.

Camera

We don’t think the 3.2MP camera is the best suit for this Nokia E75. It deserve more as it standard. But Nokia is not the pioneer in the phone’s camera area, we don’t expect high on this camera too, we just leveled it as same level with the poor Nokia E71’s camera. However the fact is, the camera is out of our expectation. We see the improvement in this camera, but unfortunately the quality is still left behind to other same range camera.

Video recording is better for this camera and it able record at vga at 30 fps.

Final words

We think that the Nokia E75 is just at the same level as other E-series phone IF we ignore the slide out Qwerty keypad. Indeed, the Qwerty keypad make it stand out from other E-series phone. Businessmen may like the convenient of messaging functionality in this phone. However, if you are not a ‘Qwerty-type’ of person, just stay away. Nokia E71 may suit your need.
