Months ago, Nokia has released couple of its Supernova phone which are includes Nokia Supernova 7610 and Supernova 7310. And, at the beginning of September there is another Supernova range phone has appeared on the market—the Nokia Supernova 7210. The Supernova range is a stylish range of mobile phones which are all fashion conscious in design and in inexpensive price. Apparently Nokia is marching towards the low-end of the market with the Supernova Series phones. So let’s take a look what lies beneath Supernova 7210.
Design
The 7210 Supernova is a solid bar designed handset which comes in two color options which are a bubble gum pink color and vivid blue colored casing. The handset is measures up at 10.6mm in depth, 45mm in width, 106mm in length and it weighs only 69.8 grams. It is a slim and lightweight gadget which is comfortable to hold in women hand and pocket-friendly.
The display of Supernova 7210 is a 2-Inch color screen which displays up to 262k colors and with the resolution of 240×320 pixels. The quality of the image is good in indoor but still hard to read under sun. You will have to find your right angle to view the display when using it at outdoor. And the keypad that lies under the display is flat metallic slab. Notice that there are plastic stripes between the key which is make us hard a bit hard to press the key. But that is probably no problem for most women’s fingers. Overall from the design of Supernova 7210, it seems the phone is dedicated to more for women then men.
Memory
The Supernova 7210 is come with 30MB of internal memory. But there is a card slot that support up to 2G microSD card is housed under the battery compartment cover.
Camera
The camera of this handset is featuring 2MP of resolution and 8x digital zoom function. The quality of the captured image is in average level. It is nothing to complain since the camera is only 2MP of resolution. The camera also features makes up to 3 shots at a time and a JPEG compression.
Beside of capturing static image, the camera also allows recording video in 3GP format with the resolution of 128×96 pixels, or 176×144 pixels. You can set the recording length from couple of seconds to unlimited length. So beware the length setting before you recording or you the memory of your phone will run out.
Audio
The music player in this phone can support MP3, Midi, WMA, ACC, ACC+ & eACC+, polyphonic music format. And also there is of course an FM radio too with RDS support. So you can easily enjoy music in most of the music format. But the quality of the audio is below average level. Boominess and no bass effect really downgrade the phone. It is not so terrible, but that is not fit Nokia standard.
Connectivity
The Supernova is a 2G phone, so you will not expect to see high speed of internet access in this phone. The GPRS and EGDE is the only way to connect to the internet. To transfer files, USB and Bluetooth are available in this phone. Nothing much to say about it, it is common specs of all low end phone.
Other Features
Other special features of Nokia 7210 Supernova would be support Flickr™. The Flickr™ is allows you to uploading images that you captured easily. But since there is no 3G in this phone, the uploading process will take longer time.
Conclusion
The Nokia 7210 Supernova is a low end phone, thus you can’t see anything special in this phone. The phone has a good looking design, but it seems women will like it more. Although the phone has all the basic features, and the price is affordable (€120++ EUR, before taxes and subsidies), but its list of rivals is pretty massive. In other words, there are a lot of phones to choose from apart from the 7210 Supernova.
