Nokia first music phone from X series finally launched. The X is actually replaced the popular XpressMusic series, but we don’t think there much differences, after all it is still a music dedicated lineup. The Nokia X6 actually give us new air, it has a completely different layout from its previously Nokia fully touchscreen handsets which were all a copy design from the original Nokia XpressMusic 5800 such as 5230, 5530 and 5800 Navigation Edition. The X6 feels like the 5800 reborn, with a capacitive touchscreen and sleek, angular body. However besides the design and hardware is different, Nokia X6 seem to have the same blood as in 5800 in its body, they all are running Symbian S60 V5 OS. Anyway, the X6 still is the flagship device for Nokia in 2009. So let’s dig out more about the device after the jump.
Design
Unlike Nokia previous touchscreen music phones that has rounded corner, Nokia X6’s corners are sharper. But it doesn’t make feel uncomfortable to hold in hand and make it does look slimmer. The front is still a 3.2″ display which is also a scratch-resistant glass surface, however it is now capacitive touchscreen which is make it more responsive and sensitive in touch orientation. It has resolution of 360×640 pixel and able to display 16M colors. Below the display, you will see there regular buttons – Call, Menu and End. There are touch sensitive as well. Overall, the X6 measure 111 x 51 x 13.8 mm of size which is considered fairly chunky. However, it look slimmer than it was and also feel compact and sleek.

This is the selling point of Nokia X6 – music capabilities. The player is Nokia Nseries digital music player that supports MP3, AAC, WMA, SPMidi, and eAAC. You can sort your tracks by by artist, composers, album and genre and each album has it graphics display. The player has an ability to choose a playlist of songs depending on your mood which called Playlist DJ. You simply swipe a few slide bars up and down, for sad, long music or fast and happy tracks, and the phone will refresh and display these for you. The X6 also is a ‘Comes With Music’ device, which mean you have free music downloads from it Music Store for the first year. After one year, you have to renew your subscription to Comes With Music. The music files was coded only able to play on the phone, so you can’t play the music file in other music player.
As music phone, Nokia X6 also have dedicated music key on the side for user quick access to the music player. In term of audio quality, it is excellent! Thanks for it dedicated audio chip for crystal clear hi-fi sound quality. You can set the music effect with a 8-band graphical equaliser for even better music listen experience . The phone comes with a 5 megapixel camera with a Carl-Zeiss lens which operates at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera also comes with autofocus and a fantastic dual LED flash for great images even at night. Pictures quality is quite good actually.
