|
Ever since Samsung revealed Samsung Omnia last year, the ‘Omnia’ become of its high-end multimedia handset line. Usually, Omnia phone are full touchscreen device like the original Omnia and Omnia HD, but the company also has launched non-touchscreen with Qwerty keypad like Samsung B7320 OmniaPRO. It seems the ‘PRO’ of OmniaPro indicating the Qwerty keypad of the phone, because the recent release Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO also have come with a full Qwerty keypad. However, the new member have all these two input methods, a Qwerty keypad and also a touch sensitive screen. And, it is also the strongest member in the family of Omnia so far. DesignThe Samsung OmniaPRO B7610 is a touchscreen device with a side slide out keypad design. On the front, it is the large 3.5″ AMOLED touchscreen of WVGA resolution dominates the front panel. This is all done at a screen pixel size of 800 x 400. The screen size is smaller than the Omnia HD, but the AMOLED technology still guarantee brilliant image quality and also plus the benefits of the advanced R touch screen display system which is excellent. However, the sunlight legibility is poor. Below the screen there are three hardware controls – the Call and End buttons, and the menu key. Open the slider you will see the full QWERTY keyboard. The buttons are large and arranged in four rows. There are two new buttons on the left of the Space key. One is a symbol that resembles Menu Key found on PC keyboards which acts as a shortcut to the menu that links to your messages, calendar, notes and the phone search function. The other one button is a white arrow that used to fast switch between applications running in the background without the necessity to enter the Task Manager. Overall, the device measure at 112.6 x 57.8 x 16.2 mm and 159 g, obviously it is a bulky device that you may need a belt clip to hold it. User InterfaceThe Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO operates with the assistance of an ARM1176-based CPU and the phone running on the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, though it is upgradeable to WinMo 6.5. The company has use their proprietary TouchWiz UI version 2.0 to cover all the original WinMo interface. The most significant differences of TouchWiz UI 2.0 is the abilities customize the interface. From the phonebook to the settings menu, everything is covered by the customized interface. So you will not see the native screens anywhere and totally make the phone look unlike a WinMo device. Apart of that, the UI’s widgets interface has also been nicely improved. Music and VideoFor video and music playback, Samsung has make a good work to replace the default WMPlayer with the Touch Player. You will not seeing the lame default WMPlayer anymore in Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO. This multimedia player able to unifies all audio and video content available. To play music in the TouchPlayer, just open to the Library where at the top you have six tabs: all music, albums, artists, genres, videos and Now Playing. Selecting a particular album makes all available tracks show up, so you can choose what to play. And on the play mode, you’ll see a simple and clean interface that provides volume, next/previous track, play/pause and shuffle selection. There is an options menu offers the ability to play the music faster/slower (It is an intriguing option to change playback speed) or to set the track as a ringtone. Playing video is just the same way as an audio file. However, tapping twice on the player interface will turns on the fullscreen mode. And at landscape orientation , there is no taskbar at the top or empty black spaces. Since the Touch player is not belong to Windows, so it is support DivX and XviD video. CameraThe Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO spot a 5MP camera that can take both picture and video. There is a dual LED flash to assist with low-light condition. The camera is come withe face and smile detection, white balance, color effects, ISO sensitivity settings, geo-tagging, smile shutter and a number of presets. The user interface is just the same as on Omnia II. Image quality is decent and offers good amount of resolved detail and relatively noise-free photos. In term of video recording, the camera shoot VGA videos at the sweet 30 fps. The quality of captured videos are slightly below par for a contemporary mobile phone. Final WordsThe Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO overall is an excellent smartphone. Apart of being a multimedia device, it is also a great business phone. As you can see Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO has everything packed in one single smart device. However, there is one thing that we can’t accept. It is the size of the device. It is too big for some people, especially for the smaller women hands. So if you are person who like to fit your phone in your pocket, the Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO probably won’t be your choice. |
