Samsung U900 Soul Review

Samsung U900 Soul is a super-slim slide phone which only 12.9mm thin. The body is made by metal which make the U900 feel solid. When hold in the hand, it fit your hand and feel comfortable to hold. The weight of Soul is 113g, not heavy but there are many other devices on the market today that are far lighter. Anyway, the weight won’t be the problem since human hand hardly can feels the different between 113g and 98g.

At the front panel, the phone is separate by two displays. The upper side would be the normal QVGA resolution TFT screen and the below the display is an OLED touchscreen which is in charge of navigation and control. Like other phone’s touchpad, haptic feedback has been applied in this phone. However, what make the touchpad stand out from the crowd is the haptic feedback is configurable by the user. Also, the icons in the touchpad will change according to the menu selected to let user easier to navigate. For example, when in music mode, icons such as Play and Forward will light up on the navigation indicators

Camera would be the strength of Samsung U900. Not to mention the 5 megapixel of the camera, it is also includes features like face detection autofocus, image stabilizer and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR). But it is better for it to have the Xenon flash rather then just the LED flash. The built in music player can play most popular music playback formats. And the Bang & Olufsen enhanced audio features is a great functions that allows user to enjoy high quality music. The includes 128 MB internal memory in U900 maybe not enough for most music fans, but you still have the option to add a microSD memory card. So music’s fans no need to worry about it.

Speaking to the connectivity, Samsung U900 features 3G with HSDPA that can supports fast 7.2Mbps connections. In other words it is capable of acting as a very quick modem for laptops when used with Samsung’s supplied PC client. However Soul is not support EDGE, it is hard to look for back-up when browsing in areas where 3G network is unavailable. To connect to PC, Soul can count on USB and Bluetooth as well.

There is no doubt that Samsung U900 is an excellent mobile phone. Of course we cannot compare Soul with digital camera and Mp4 player. But as a phone, it’s hard to find so all-around multimedia mobile phone like Samsung U900 Soul does.
